Trelleborg Industrial AVS successfully achieved IRIS 01 registration 11th September 2009

In the railway industry Trelleborg Industrial AVS is best known as supplier of primary and secondary suspension systems, centre control mountings, centre pivot bearings, control links and drive couplings for every type of application from trams and light rail to heavy freight locomotives.  For secondary suspension, the company offers a variety of products including all-rubber hourglass bearer springs and airspring systems, while Chevron and Metacone^TM springs are typically used in primary suspensions.

Hadleigh Castings successfully achieved IRIS 01 registration 17th July 2009

The scope of registration is for the manufacture of aluminium alloy castings and sub-assemblies from castings to national, international and customer specifications and with lot traceability when contract requires, by the boxless moulding and gravity die methods. Operations include pattern and tool making precision machining.

Hadleigh Castings are the first aluminium alloy castings company to gain IRIS registration in the UK.

IRIS is an acronym for the “International Railway Industry Standard”, has been  established as a working group of the Independent Association of European Railway Industries (UNIFE)

The IRIS Group is intended to be a global non-profit program with the goal to secure high quality in the railway industry. 

The scope of the IRIS Group is to develop and implement a global system for supplier evaluation specific to the railway industry, which comprises:

• an international standard for the business management systems requirements in the railway industry, and derived from the standard an evaluation questionnaire,
• an evaluation Process with an assessment guideline
• a web-based IRIS Portal (database) and Audit-Tool (Software)

TPT Consultancy & Training has now successfully guided 8 companies through IRIS Stage 2 Audit. A further 3 companies are preparing for audit.

IRIS is now at Revision 02. This revision brings the standard to a new level. IRIS is now ISO9001:2008 compatible and is linked to ISO9004:2009. It also includes stronger maturity levels and Key Performance Indicators.
