IRIS certification is the standard promoted by UNIFE (the Association of the European Rail Industry) and is supported by operators, system integrators and equipment manufacturers and complements ISO9001; introducing rail specific requirements.
The scope of the IRIS Group is to develop and implement a global system for supplier evaluation specific to the rail industry, which comprises:
- An international standard for the business management systems requirements in the rail industry, and derived from the standard evaluation questionnaire,
- An evaluation process with an assessment guideline
- A web based IRIS Portal (database) and Audit-Tool (software)
Benefits of IRIS
Obtaining the IRIS standard will demonstrate that your business has achieved a standard for competitiveness, expected by industry.
For equipment manufacturers, obtaining IRIS will improve the quality and cost effectiveness of product. Allowing your business to become more visible in the market-place and demonstrate the value of your product.
For system integrators, achieving IRIS will show that a level of competency has been reached, removing the need for customer audits, saving time and money for potential clients.
How Can TPT Help?
IRIS has a series of expected requirements necessary to achieve the standard. Firstly, TPT will perform a gap analysis to evaluate the areas that need to be addressed. Based on this analysis TPT will present a report to the management team where an agreed plan of action can be implemented and overseen by your TPT consultant. These will be constantly monitored and reported on by your TPT consultant to ensure a smooth journey to achieving IRIS.
TPT will also guide the management team through the process of assessment to ensure your business systems are effectively implemented. This includes assisting with the preparation for the Readiness Review and subsequent on site audit.
TPT can also offer IRIS Internal Auditor Training.
